Saturn
Saturn is a giant world sixth in the Sun's planetary lineup.[1] Billions of icy and rocky fragments form Saturn's ring system.[1]
History
Pioneer 11 made the first close spacecraft visit to Saturn in 1979.[2] Cassini began orbiting Saturn in 2004 after earlier Voyager flybys.[2]
Findings
A planet-wide body of liquid water lies beneath Enceladus's ice.[2] JPL lists a mean radius of 58232 kilometres for Saturn.[3] With increasing depth, Saturn's gases gradually become liquid as pressure rises.[4]
Current status
A ten-sided atmospheric jet encircles Saturn's southern polar region in Hubble data.[1]
