Pluto
Pluto occupies the Kuiper Belt, the region of small bodies beyond Neptune, and is classed as a dwarf planet.[3]
History
Pluto's discovery came in 1930, NASA says.[3] The USGS account links Pluto's discovery to a search prompted by Percival Lowell's predicted trans-Neptune world.[2] The New Horizons spacecraft made its Pluto flyby in 2015.[3]
Findings
Five moons are known to orbit Pluto, with Charon the largest.[4] JPL reports Pluto's mean radius as 1,188.3 kilometres.[1]
