Nix

Nix is a small body in Pluto's satellite system.[1] JPL lists Nix's mean radius as 18.0 kilometres.[2]

History

A Hubble team led by Hal Weaver discovered Nix in June 2005.[1] Nix takes its name from a Greek deity associated with night and darkness.[1]

Findings

Among the pair found in 2005, Nix travels closer to Pluto.[1] Color views from New Horizons show a red-toned mark on Nix that drew scientists' attention.[1] NASA describes Nix and Hydra as each roughly 32 to 113 km wide.[1] USGS lists craters among Nix's mapped named feature classes.[3]
