Epimetheus

Epimetheus is listed by JPL with a mean radius of 58.2 kilometres.[2] Epimetheus is a moon of Saturn.[1]

History

NASA credits Richard Walker's observation and says Stephen Larson and John Fountain later shared discovery credit after distinguishing Janus from Epimetheus.[1] Voyager 1 confirmed the two-moon explanation in 1980.[1]

Findings

About every four years, Janus and Epimetheus trade their inner and outer orbital positions.[1] Epimetheus's orbital period around Saturn is about 17 hours.[1] The ESA table lists its dimensions as 110 by 138 kilometres.[3]
